NEIL CUGLEY- Manager and Director of Football

The word 'Legend'is  far too easily used in this beautiful game, but mention Folkestone Invicta Football Club to almost anyone on the non-league circuit and the name of Neil Cugley will spring to mind.

Cugs is abour to start an astonishing 21st year in charge of the club representing the town where he was born and bred having spent much of a distinguished non-league playing career with the now long gone Folkestone Town which folded in 1989/90.

(Despite many misconceptions, there was no direct link between the two clubs - Invicta coming out of the Kent County League and playing on park pitches to take over the by then unused Cheritoin Road ground in 1991).

Neil has seen more ups and downs in almost every sense of those words during his time with Invicta, topped by the club's championship winning 2015/16 campaign which saw them take the Ryman Division One South title by a massive 24 point margin while the manager himself passed 1,000 games in charge at Cheriton Road, now known as the Fullicks Stadium,

.He collected many personal accolades for what is a very rare achievement, including Ryman League Manager of the Season and the National Game Lifetime Achievement award from The Non-League Paper at a glittering occasion held at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge Suite.

Having chalked up almost 500 games in charge at Ashford Town, the old Folkestone club, and Hythe Town the former centre-half turned centre forward has spent a lifetime in the non-league game..

Neil was elected to the board of Folkestone Invicta Football Club in late 2015.

Date of birth: November 20, 1956.
