                                                                                                         NEIL CUGLEY

      (Director of Football)

Neil is now in his 20th season with Invicta and completed 1,000 games as manager last season when he led his home town team to winning the Ryman League Division One championship by a massive 24 points.

He collected many personal accolades for what is a very rare achievement, including Ryman League Manager of the Season and the Ray East Award.

‘Cugs’ also received a National Game Lifetime Achievement award from The Non-League Paper at a glittering occasion held at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge Suite.

A painstaking check through our archives established that Neil’s 1,000th match in charge of Invicta came in the penultimate league game of 2015/16, a hard-earned 1-0 win at Three Bridges thanks to a very late goal from top-scorer Ian Draycott.

He also chalked up around 400-500 games in charge at Ashford Town, the old Folkestone Town club, and Hythe Town.

A centre half who became a highly effective striker, in a long and successful playing career Neil had three spells with Invicta’s predecessors at the Cheriton Road ground, Folkestone Town.

He also played for Ashford Town, Dartford, Margate, Dover Athletic, Maidstone United and Thanet United.

In the 1982-83 season he broke Folkestone Town’s goal-scoring record with 46 goals.

Neil was elected to the board of Folkestone Invicta Football Club in lae 2015.

Date of birth: November 20, 1956.
