This amazing Invicta squad – playing 3-5-2, 9-1, 1-2-3-1-3 or whatever formation you like – continue to defy their critics and sit top of the Bostik Premier Division with the games starting to run out for most of the play-off contenders.

That is except, of course, for title favourites Billericay Town who had yet another game called off this weekend and will probably still be playing when the rest of the clubs begin pre-season training for next season!

But we won’t worry too much about Mr Moneybags and his mercenaries so let’s back to the real world and look at the situation involving the rest of the clubs involved in the end-of-season shake up.

Dulwich Hamlet have taken up an emergency groundshare at Tooting & Mitcham for the run-in after they were locked out of their own Champion Hill stadium by the landlords in an increasingly difficult and unpleasant situation.

The Hamlet – and we’re not apparently supposed to even call them by that name – surely remain second favourites for the automatic promotion spot and you would have thought cast-iron certainties for the play offs at the very least.

It’s going to be intriguing to see how Gavin Rose’s talented players respond to the unfortunate situation they find themselves in and we sincerely hope that this excellent club rides out this storm.

But, as one senior Invicta official commented this week, we only really know one side of the argument, even if we are always likely to side with a fellow Football Club against property developers.

The bookies are surely giving even longer odds of Folkestone taking the title than the 5,000 to one that they paid out on Leicester City winning the Premiership a couple of years back, and, in all honesty, would we be ready to go up?

For the time being let’s just suggest that this might be the best chance we’ll ever have of making the Premier Division play offs and leave it at that for the time being.

If it isn’t going to be Billericay or Dulwich, our big talking, big spending Kent rivals Margate look the likeliest contenders for the number one spot - and wouldn’t they just love that over on their not-so-far-off planet.

Hendon, Staines Town, Leiston and perennial underachievers Leatherhead still all fancy their chances, as we do ours, so it looks like perm any five of the current top eight in the table who are still realistically interested.

(In passing Staines have reportedly been put up for sale by their chairman who is keen to hand over the reins at Wheatsheaf Lane).

There are no easy games in this division, just some easier than others but circumstances have conspired to leave Folkestone Invicta still having to play five of the afore-named teams, so for Neil Cugley’s side, there really is everything to play for.

We’ve only four away fixtures left, and if you want to be there, why not travel with fellow FIFC supporters on the coaches arranged by our long-time travel organiser John Law?

We’ve listed below the coach times and dates with a few comments alongside.

Demand is expected to be high for most of these four games, so PLEASE let John know that you’re interested as soon as you can.

*** Invicta will be among the first clubs to play at Dorking Wanderers new Meadowbank Stadium when we go there on April 14th.

Wanderers will officially open the £9Million facilities on Tuesday, March 27th when their visitors in the Bostik Premier are local rivals Leatherhead.

(This is apparently ‘The Mole Valley Derby’ for those of us not familiar with the folklore of that part of Surrey. It’s an all ticket game with all 2,000 reportedly almost if maybe not quite yet sold out!)

Added interest then for Invicta followers - especially those who went to the fittingly named Westhumble Playing Fields where we lost 1-0 in the mud and the rain last season!

John has already taken a fair number of bookings and is considering upgrading to a 53-seater so please let him know if you are interested.
