Adam Flanagan (2005/06) |

An outstanding centre-back – and we’ve had some very good ones indeed – Flanners came from Hastings to become the rock at the heart of our defence for several very good seasons. The son of ex-Charlton legend Mike Flanagan, Adam was one of a number of excellent players from the Essex area who graced the black and amber in the first decade of this century. A massive threat in the opposing penalty area, his ability to snatch vital late goals was almost unique - just ask those nice chaps of Kings Lynn, Met Police and a few other clubs who really fancied themselves at around that time. Flanners also scored the opening goal in our First Round Proper FA Cup tie away at Chester City on November 5, 2005. Sadly Chester scored twice to eventually win 2-1 at The Deva Stadium. |
